Hi Guys,

Drop into the transport office website and there is all the info you require, you can download, print it off and do a DIY risk assessment.

http://www.transportoffice.gov.uk/crt/motgaragesandtesters/motgaragesandtesters.htm

Everything you wish to know is there.

Hopes this helps

I assume that for each of the criteria we were questioned / examined on, we were marked with scores from 0 to 5.  0 being 'perfect', 5 for major problems.

The scores were totalled to give the test result...

Had ours 2 weeks ago, scored 425 green sector. Thought not bad in the average section and quite happy, then noticed it was for someone else. 2 Days later correct one arrived with score of 325, even better

Letter also said that visits may not be required during the next year, but you never Know with VOSA.

We have had our results, in the green, spoke to a VOSA senior official who said the results are based on the performance reports and the test station operation, whatever that meant?

"Why didn't they just 'e mail' the results to the VTS device?"

Far too logical and simple!!!! Plus how would the government justify the tax payers paying all those wages for the mail dept.??  Hey the VE was telling me that after government data breaches recently they are not allowed to carry thier laptops, so after this mail data breach we can only assume that the message will be sent in invislbe ink Dick Barton style or maybe the relaunch of the WWII enigma device??:?

VOSA will lay the blame firmly at the mailing house I suspect.

Good start for the new bod who signed the letters eh?!

I feel sorry for the garage that attained a red score, which apparently has gone to around 5,000 red score garages.  This is certainly a data protection infringement and that poor devil needs compensation of some sort.  He should go to his MP and create a stink.

It's farcical beyond belief..................

Work the postal costs out alone - second class is over £5k X2 = £10k!!!

Why didn't they just 'e mail' the results to the VTS device?

We got our proper result through the other day too. Amber with 625 points. I'd be interested to see how they work these scores out being as I was on holiday at the time of the assessment.

Interesting to see a few scores way out in the red at around 1300 points:shock:

The Appeals forms you can print off the computer if you ever need one, can't see why a station would need paper copies, unless computerisation malfunctions?

no emergency certificates (they never sent me any)

no local area office address on my notice board

no spare "your car and the mot" leaflets

no appeals forms (they never sent me any)

he said at the time he understood the reasons as I am a new start , so I have ordered the best practice DVD

Had ours on Monday...

We are still green (as per original letter), but this time with a decent score of 285.

Unfortunately they that's VOSA tell us that 600 new stations have recently opened, so that's 19600 mistakes in one go?

When the evidence is assessed this is probably why they only recruit from their own internal social circles, be a bit professionally embarrassing to employ people like us who are more intelligent?
