issue advisory reading refer prior fail/advise.traders get the hump with this but does at least give pass with enough information to (possibly)wake the punter up to the possibility of potential problems.

Only re-issue advisory items if you just re-tested them.

It seems that different VI's are giving differing answers to this one, so there isn't a conclusive correct answer.

I suppose the best thing to do is to fall in line with the recommendation of your own VI.

Don't think there is a right or wrong answer to this one!

I don't think VOSA expects a 'yes' to be inserted on the VT20 as I don't see why a tester should be expected to issue what's in effect a duplicate copy of a document he's previously issued only a day/few days earlier - seems a bit OTT.

Furthermore on day of issuing VT20 test certificate, the tester is only examining the failed items, so shouldn't be expected to refer to earlier mentioned comments.

The advisory comments have clearly been brought to the customer's attention and I cannot see any merit in issuing a further copy.  However I see no harm in doing so.

Thankfully if the customer's sells the vehicle minus advisory document (which let's face it they will!), purchasers can now check out the full MoT history on VOSA's web site which will have all advisory comments documented.

I'll contact VOSA to get some kind of official response to this query and report back.

Any feedback or suggetions to the following would be greatly appreciated:-

When retesting a vehicle that has a long list of fail items & advisories, do you have to relist the advisories & issue an advisory form VT32. The reason I am asking is that today I read "The Garage & MOT Professinal" magazine dated 24 April 2007, which had an article about this.

It said that you can change the box on the certificate "Has an advisory been issued" to YES & add the previous test number; ie.the fail test number (which would include the list of advisories issued at the time of that test).

Is this right or wrong?

Martin
