Bit of an update to this one....
I've now discovered if you send the used ribbons back to VOSA they will send you replacements FREE OF CHARGE.
Yet another well kept secret. 
The address to send them to is:

(send 2 at a time to save postage costs but 1 will be ok)

god,you guys are slow,weve bin buying ribbons etc from the local office supplies since early metered test came out-90>.why pay sun/crypton/siemens et al 10 times the amount that they are actually worth?only problem is that some of these old printers are so basic that the supplier wonders why you are using such old crap,also the older ones tend to need ordering due to the fact that they dont generally keep obselete stuff.

Great we ordered some today. Plus i am going to see if they do them for our DGA as Sun charge £14.00 plus vat and P&P for them

Siemens charge £6.79 + VAT for ONE ribbon.

As cheap as £2.89 + VAT (if you order 10 or more) + £2.50 for next day delivery - free delivery on orders over £30 + VAT so order 11 for virtually the same price as 10!
If you just want 1 to 4 ribbons, they're still only £3.79 each.
