Urban myths are alive & kicking at the MOT station !

If every Nominated Tester / Authorised Examiner was a member on a Forum such as this one (or another one ;) ) then all these ridiculous misconceptions can be clarified...

SO HE DID NOT WANT TO CHANCE TESTING IT FOR MY BENEFIT?!

Your mechanic/tester is wrong wrong wrong !!! :?

The registration number and chassis number are all that are needed to log the test (apart from mileage & number of seats)

He may need to look up the engine type on the emissions database during the test to make sure he's using the correct specific limits for the engine, but that's all.

I HAVE JUST BOUGHT A CAR FROM A FRIEND,THE CAR HAS HAD AN ENGINE CHANGE AROUND FOUR YEARS AGO,BUT THE NEW ENGINE NUMBER HAS NOT BEEN UPDATED ONTO THE LOGBOOK.

I HAVE NOW FILLED THIS IN AND SENT IT OFF TO THE DVLA TO BE RECTIFIED,MY QUESTION IS WILL I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE V5 TO RETURN,TO CONFIRM THE NEW ENGINE NUMBER IS ON THE DVLA DATABASE WHEN IT GOES FOR AN M.O.T.?OR WILL IT FAIL AS IT WONT MATCH THE CAR?I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE TESTER INPUTS THE ENGINE NUMBER IN TO SYSTEM NOW(HENCE IT WONT MATCH,YET)
