If you go to a different testing station, you will have to pay for a full test instead of a free (or reduced rate) retest.

Yeah... I've made a retest booking but I don't like the garage now... seems a little dodgy.
I wanted to use an alternative garage to test my emission as prove as it passess the emission.

firstly , they would not really be able to emission test a cold engine , once it has failed the first part of the emission test the machine goes to a full cat test & the oil temperature needs to be measured for this .
secondly , you can go to another garage for an mot if you really want to .
but you then run the risk of a different tester failing your car on something that the first tester thought was an advisory.
if it had only failed on the emissions then why not go back to the same garage & book a retest , then take the car in with a nice hot engine .

Hi there,
Could anybody please advice me on the matter that is it possible to change to a different test centre to get my car MOT'd.
Recently, my car has just failed the emission test with high CO and HC output. I suspect that the test centre has carried out the test when the engine is cold not to mention the winter weather. I have then asked the test centre to try and retest it after the engine had warmed up but he has refused to do so because they were too busy.
Is it possible to take my car to another test centre to have a full retest after the first centre has issued me with the refusal certificate.
I'm not quite sure if you have to stick to the same test centre until you pass your MOT or are you allowed to use a different tester to carry out the test again from start.
I know my emission will pass because I've just had the emission tested after carrying out some work on my car 2 weeks ago. However, the engine was warmed up at that time.
Regards,
DX
