Construction & Use rules should still apply - the use of trade plates exempts the vehicle from excise duty (road tax) - the vehicle should still be in a roadworthy condition (including speedo)
I know this isnt the correct place........but I hope there is someone in the industry with knowledge.
When a vehicle is driven on trade plates .........does it need a working speedo?
The reason I ask is somewhere in the deep past I seem to recall a car being stopped for speeding on the M5. The driver was moving it from a dealer in Newport to Exeter - new car. The driver said he `wasnt sure of his speed` due to disconnected speedo. Police officer noticed that half way through its the cars journey it had just 4.2 miles recorded. Not sure what the result was re any offences. This was a while ago when all speedos were cable and fairly easy to disconnect - but nowadays with electronics?
