| before you ask a "corrosion assessment tool" is like a toffee hammer (small & lightweight) but if the "toffee" is ready to split then the "tool" is big enough.....

Thank youfor the reply.
I will pass that onto his nibs so he can do whatever it is you do when you disappear under your vehicles.
What a useful forum.

Hello
I wonder if someone could give an idea of what would be classed as corrossion which meant a Fail.
The area in question is on the rear section of an old Bedford Van, when I say old she is almost 20 years old.
Was hoping to remove the back bumper to put preserving chipping on, thinking that was all that would be required, but if the bumper was taken off the whole back end would probably fall apart, as all that area is rotten as a pear.
My concern was if there was a back end shunt situation the vehicle would probably fall apart.
Would this be a definite pass or fail at MOT time?
It also looks as if there are some hairline cracks forming underneath as well.
What are the specifics about rust.
Thank you
