Hmmm, ok, thanks.  It has since become academic because the customer had a full retest done anyway.

A partial retest normally requires the items that have failed, to be rechecked, BUT if the repair of the failed items require other items to be removed and refitted (such as the removal of brake disc, hub etc to replace a CV gator) then the items that have been disturbed, have to be checked also.

ALSO, while checking the required items, if the tester notices another fault, he/she must act accordingly (pass & advise  or  fail).

As for retest fees, I'm of the understanding that garages can set their own prices, but the max for a full test must not exceed £50.35 and the max for a retest must not exceed £25.

What  is a partial retest?  Are they only allowed to retest the items that failed? or can they re-test anything they want?

Say one headlamp failed for being loose with another fail on a gator boot.  On the partial retest can they then say
"oh your other headlamp is loose now"

Second question regarding partial retest fee
Is it upto half the full test (statutory) test fee regardless of what garage charges for full test?
Or is it upto half the amount the garage charges for a full test

i.e. Fulltest fee is £50.35
so half that is £25.17

If garage charges £36  for a full test
is the maximum amount they can charge for partial retest....
£18  or  £25.17 ?
