Apparently the powers that be realised after the new implementation that the new rules involved two pieces of legislation already in force that contradicted each other. This means that new legislation on the relevant points of law regarding number plate rules now must be put through Parliament before the new rules can be re-introduced.

The new number plate rules regarding postcode, BSAU 145 d etc etc  were implemented and then suddenly withdrawn on 17 Nov 2007.

Can a tester please say what the latest news in on this? Are you still not allowed to fail for these lack of markings? Why was it suddenly withdrawn?  I looked in the trade section and the thread there went dead on 27th Nov.
