Shouldn't fail but mend it anyway.

but its the clutch not the brakes ,and if the reservoir cant be seen without removing covers its fine, because as testers we are not allowed to remove anything ,thats stated in the guide.

just because it says brake fluid on the bottle and you use it in a clutch does not make it a fail

Also I'm wondering if the mot guy may fail it cause he won't be sure where the leak is/not enough time to investigate  ie. the reservoir is behind the instrument panel sitting on top of the brake master cylinder which is all above the clutch cylinder/pedal. Its pretty obvious its the clutch though cause you can hear it squelch and theres no fluid above it but he might not want to know. Guess that might be pot luck :)

Yeah its the same source buts its designed so if the brakes leak the clutch will pack up first (which is good) and if the clutch system leaks/empties  it doesn't effect the brakes at all

quote from vw forum -

"Have taken mine off in the past and the whole resouvior is for brakes and clutch but when a leak occurs in the clutch cylinder, it will only empty half way due to the fact that the clutch feed pipe is half way up the resouvior. This keeps your brakes running even if the whole clutch system explodes!"

"but its actually 2 separate compartments in one. " Do they use the same source for their fluid.

hi, was wondering if a small drip from a clutch master cylinder fails an mot. Its on a vw camper T25 so at first glance it looks like it shares the same reservoir as the brakes but its actually 2 separate compartments in one.

cheers
