also front brakes+emissions,n/s/f subframe rots out above the rollbar mount,power steering pipe out of pump also tends to leak at variable rates,if fitted with abs will have disc rear brakes,handbrake dies.if drum rears then these give little trouble.headlamp bulbs are a pain in the a**e to fit and are commonly done wrong,if it fails on beam image suspect this.

check all of the brake pipes , mainly where they come out of the plastic sleeving at the brake hoses .
check the sills for rot & make sure the brackets haven't rotted off the exhaust .
check the cv boots & check all wheels for play etc.

Hello,
My MOT is coming up soon, and i was wondering what am i to be looking for on my '97 214si, any common failings? i know obviously to look for the obvious...lights, wipers, washers blah....just any other things really, stuff the Rover 214 have failed on in the past
