Jemma..

With regards to the "revving"...Take it to your local Garage for an opinion, but do not be surprised if they charge you for it.Then ask the Garage to carry out the repairs as required to Pass the MOT...OK so now you paid out but you had a second opinion also..

Present your car to the"TEST STATION."..For a retest,if it "PASSES" all good...

But if it "FAILS" then go back to where you had the "REPAIRS" done and ask them "WHY ??"..

Sorry I can't be more helpful but i cannot asses the problem from my PC...;)

a cable tie or piece of string would do as temporary means of opening the boot , just make sure you tell the tester what it's for ;)

Hi Jemma.

Halfords will not have one, its a specific part you will need to go the dealer, it won't be expensive.

Hey big.. E, Thanks for your reply.

OKay i will look on ebay for a boot lock or go to halfords and buy one, i should be able to fit it myslef or my boyfriend will. Its okay tho if the boot is damaged as long as it can open and close?

Yeah since my expensive MOT i have learnt a  bit about cars and regualy check the oil and water, and i have just fitted a new headlight bulb on it. But as for the car having a mind of its own and the whole car vibrating and shaking everywher, i have no clue. I know that when i bought it in feb that it had just had a new exhaust system...

What do you think i should do about the reving? If i take it to a garage and asked them to look at it for an opinion, would they charge me?

Hi Jemma.

Not being able to open your boot would mean that the tester would "refuse to test" your car.The reason for this is because a full and proper check could not be carried out on your car.

As for the "shaky, rev's by itself" this would possibly be another "refuse to test" as the emission test could not be carried out properly.(Would need to see/hear it for a proper opinion).

You say you were "ripped off" with your Matiz, well the MOT test is only a basic safety check,if you car is maintained to a decent standard then there sould be no reason for failure.....Do you have your car serviced regularly?..To be honest Tyres, wiper blades and bulbs are standard wear & tear items which you or your boyfriend should check regularly yourselves...

Hi there,

My car's MOT is almost due, but a few weeks ago some kind person kicked my boot in and smashed the lock to pieces. My boyfriend bashed the dent out as much as he could and did something to the lock so the boot is locked. But now i can NOT open or close the boot. I would just like to know if this is a pass or a fail.

Also is it a fail if you switch the engine on at the car is really shaky and if it rev's by itself? I dont know why it does this? i just put up with it because i dont want to spend to much on the car as im saving for a better one that i would like to drive. and also there is a dent on every pannel!

I have been ripped off by every garage i have been to in my local area! my last MOT on my Matiz i had cost me 350.00!!!! they made me buy two tyres wiper blades bulbes catelitic converter, they really ripped me off.. anyways if some one knows if my 106 will pass or not it would be great to hear from you....

JEMMA!
