Hi Tom
Go and buy yourself a cheap gas tester from Halfords, they are not that expensive, or book into a local garage and ask them to check it and adjust it, ask for a print out, or buy yourself a Haynes manual on your vehicle to give yourself some insight, they are not the best books, but have useful info in them.
Ensure your engine runs smoothly, no misfiring, backfiring etc, may be give the engine a good service and take it for a good run, although this latter part may be difficult without current test.
All mot stations can produce printouts when testing emissions, may be ask them to give you a copy also.

It's 1988 with no cat.
I will be getting it set up properly after I have got it MOT'ed but I need it tested first because the only place that I trust to set it up is about 100 miles away.

Hi tom,
How old is "the car"? does it have a Cat?
A full description of age make and model of vehicle would be extremely helpful.
Thanks, Wes.
