Thanks for the replies
I bought the car a couple of months ago and as always i do my own repair work, The brakes are a must to check i think. Wasnt too sure about the seatbelts because its a jap import and as i understand it the UK models were fitted with differant belts hence my question.
As you can understand with any MOT a customer will have concearns and will worry what its going to fail on.
Thanks again everyone

I have a few concearns after doing lots of work to get it ready for the test they are,
The seat belts, now i dont really know how you test these but i have always pulled them a little to see if they lock, Now after pulling these belts they dont lock but I'm informed that because its the inertia type of belt they only lock when the car is traveling, so my question is would the tester know this or would i have to tell him and of course would you fail them ?
Secondly my rear nearside brake, after installing new discs and pads and cleaning the caliper if i turn the wheel by hand i can feel a little resistance not much but i can feel it, i took it for a little drive and it does'nt feel like its binding, i'm sure ithe brakes needs bedding in but i cant really risk taking it out again without the mot. would this fail the test too ?
Any advice most welcome thanks.
Hi Nigel,
Firstly, the locking of the inertia type seatbelt, when pulled/snatched, is not a requirement for the mot.
Secondly, If the "little resistance" noticed when rotated by hand, is not a significant amount, thats significant enough to make a noticeable reading when brakes are tested using the roller brake tester, then it would be a pass and advise.
hope this helps,
regards, Wes.

Hi Nigel.
The first thing that springs to mind is; Should you be working on your brakes if you dont know what the end result should feel like?

Some seat belts are designed to work like that, not sure about the MR2 though, the wheel bind sould be ok, depends how bad, its a difficult one to quantify. There is a discussion on this else where use the search function.
