A phone call might not be a bad idea to 'chase it up'. The process should only take a few weeks.
I submitted a VT01 on behalf of a potential Authorised Examiner, i spoke to the (SVE) Senior Vehicle Examiner before i hand delivered the form, to see when he would be available to view the site for pre-authorisation?
He said he has a duty to visit all new applicants within 5 working days of recieving the VT01.
I have arranged with local offices to arrange a date and time for site inspection, and authorisation within 14 days of submission.
I cannot see why they have not responded to you?

vosa can give you an answer in theory letter. i put my form in with all the references etc etc. then on the day on completion for the sale the existing AE faxed through and resigned. I faxed through letter from solicitor saying I was now the owner and AE status was transfered. It was done overnight. If you look in the Mot Testing Guide (of which you will have to have a copy)it explains it all. Paperwork needs to be in place prior. Give VOSA a ring, they are there to help!!! Honest.
They call it a seamless transfer - knew it would come to me
Good luck

yes, you have to be possession of the lease, and 2 references, solicitors letter, planning permission/class of use.
loads of red tape.

Hi
I have been an NT since YTS days but am now planning to take over an existing MOT station and run it as owner operator. (not the one I currently work at )
Does anyone know how long VOSA take to process a VT01 for a new application?
I ask because on the VT01 form it asks for a copy of my lease agreement for the garage. Does that mean I have to have already taken over the lease and paid the current owner £xxxxx for the business BEFORE I apply?
Sounds kinda risky, anyone done this?
thx, Adrian
