Believe it or not - no!  Many AEs are business men that employ technical staff.

The AE course is a prerequisite to inform such applicants of the pitfall's that could await them.   VOSA got fed up over the years of AE's in trouble then crying over 'spilt milk' scenarios.

Thanks guys.

Does one need to have mechanical knowledge to become an AE?

I assume by AE course that this is in fact the management course that's now entitled MoT Managers Course?

There is no 'paper' as such, as in reality it's more of a seminar ie to lecture you on the responsibilities/pitfalls etc of running an MoT station.

Hi guys,

I am about to fill in the paperwork to sit the authorised examiners course.

How difficult are these courses? Does any one have a 'previous' paper ? I am not a mechanic but involved in the motor trade.

Any pointers would be appreciated.
