A seamless transfer is where an existing AE sells the business to a newly appointed AE or an existing AE.

Seamless is preferable by VOSA, as the word describes, (without a break), a continuation of existing Test Station.

However, having enquired about this last year, I think the Time Window accepted by VOSA is Twelve Months.

Make sure You get at least a Five Year Lease, most older testing stations Equipment Will be Due for replacement, cut off date, December 2008.

If You have Five Years Lease Minimum. Then You will be able to purchase Your New Equipment on a Lease Purchase agreement provided You have a sound credit history.

what is the best way to go about it?
we have both applied for our mot tests, how long does this usually take?
also we will be changing the authorised examiner (one of us), and have been told that whilst this change is going through that the station with no longer be able to operate! is this also true and if so how long will it be on hold.
hope i've worded it all ok?
thanks

Mot tests, do you mean applied to become a tester, that depends on whether or not you are qualified, and what coure you need.

Get yourself a testing guide, and have a read.

Apply for a seamless transfer, that way you can carry on. It takes a bit of working out with the vendor and his/her solicitors, but it can work. The other way is to start from scratch. With A VT1 (AS ALWAYS) Usually its the vendor that lets the side down as as soon as they have got the money they "do one" leaving you to sort it. It can take anything from a week to 6 months depending how good y:?ou are with the paperwork.
