it is a bit of a strange one , some people prefer to go to a testing station that does not carry out repairs as they "believe" that these type of garages are not "looking for work"
others prefer to have a service & mot done at the same time , as well as any repairs (if needed ) to get the vehicle through the mot , as this removes the need to take it for test & then find somewhere else to get the work done if it fails & then take it back for retest.

I only do class 4 and yes I have knocked on doors offering discounts free collection etc but they still stick with the same places they do turn up with the odd one when their regular mOT place is either shut on a saturday or too busy

What classes of test are you doing and what are others in your area doing - have you approached trade customers in your area and set up deals for trade testing etc. as this can be regular work even if at a slightly reduced rate ?

I have about 5 MOT stations in a 5 mile radius with a population of 50000 of which 50 per cent are coffin dodgers. Outside this radius is Blackpool where there's about 15 MOT centres population 90000 of which 70 per cent are benefit cheats, polish, jocks looking for streets paved with gold and bloody pikeys.

I wonder if I could ask for help on this ?
As I have mentioned previously I am a new start and have been doing tests since Jul 07. At the moment I am still only doing 3 tests per day and have been since Sept 07
I know some of you have said be patient but based on the rate of new business coming in (nil) I cannot see things improving so therefore I may need to re structure before I start running out of funds.
I advertise my business as JUST MOT'S and advertise this quite heavily via the yellow pages and local radio with very little response.
My question is, is this the right road to go down or should I do what the majority of people do and offer repairs and servicing as well which will include changing the company name and all the agro with VOSA. Does anyone else out there do Just Mot's ?
