Should have retested it And Failed it...Charge him again for the next test,if he comes back..Thats why you only get "one free retest" per Test, stops the "messers"..Give in this time and he will be back time & again..."MESSERS" don't pay the wages..;)

had another one in this week .

his vehicle failed on the osr fog, stop lamps & position lamps adversely affected by each other , headlamps insecure & too low , 2 rotten brake pipes , horn faulty (intermittent) ,n/s/f indicator , headlight , position light & side rep all faulty (bad earth) adversely affected by each other.

i also issued an advisory "both sills corroded but not excessively" , the bloke turned round & said that the mot was too strict & a big joke on the public as he could see no reason why his vehicle should be failed , he then said he would rather scrap it than fix it , even though he says he had 30 odd years experience in car repair.

he went nuts about the advisory & said there was no corrosion on the sills , so i pointed it out to him , his reply "thats just surface rust " , my reply " it looks a bit more than that , since when was surface rust any different to heavy rust , corrosion is corrosion "

the a***hole returned today for retest , the lights were still faulty & it was my manager who would have been doing the retest , the manager spotted the faulty lights before he even had chance to log it on & so told him to take it away , repair the lights & then come back for retest , he then said to the manager that if he wasn't going to pass it there & then he would take it elsewhere for the retest .

you just can't tell some people :D

Monday with some staff off work and had a full days mot's already booked in, 2;30 in afternoon just turned round off computerisation looked at a customer who said arrogantly, i have had my car mot here and have my wheel bolts here, fit un and retest it as i have paid for it, i asked nicely are you booked in, he argued that he did not need an appointment that he had been told he could just bring it when he wanted and everybody else must drop whatever they are doing so long as he gets his car retested.

I had two customers sat in waiting area with a 2.30 appointment, what would you have done?

Sounds to me like he's instructing you to do the work.  Fit them, retest, then refuse to release the car till he pays for the (min one hour) labour for the repairs :dude:

Hi,

So Did the Re-Test Vehicle Have Wheel Trims fitted at time of initial test?

Do You Have Two Test Lanes or One?

Wes.

that's normally how i do it as well , unless the manager isn't too busy , in which case he will do the retests while i do the full tests.

well , the vehicle presenter came back today for the retest , the manager did it as i was on with another mot .

the presenter then told the manager to tell me to f*** off & said that i had been "a**ey" with them , cheek of it .

the manager backed me up all the way & then told the presenter to have a nice day , presenter was less than happy with this & drove off from the garage like a total loony .:)

so the question arises about who has the attitude problem & i know it isn't me .

even the lads i work with who were there when all of this first happened had said i did or said nothing wrong & it was an idiot customer .

i had a vehicle in for test the other day & failed it for an abs light & insecure headlamp .

the vehicle presenter turned up to collect & asked what the outcome of the test was .

when told that it had failed on the abs they asked which sensor , i replied that it would need to go on diagnostic for that , the presenter then asked why i never had the car on diagnostic while i was mot'ing it .

they then replied that my boss was trying to rip them off by telling them a diagnostic check was £30 because it is actually part of the mot & i should tell them which sensor was the problem.

this is what we are expected to put up with :X
