you test whats in front of you-class 4-5-7-whatever.if he decides to add seats afterwards then its his(and his customers)problem.any station testing this sort of garbage shud be advising on seat capacity as a matter of course.dont even get started on installation checks.........

Possibly not, but if I was dealing with someone who is prepared to flout the rules to suit thier own aims by fitting and removing seats to save themselves a few quid then I'd be taking precautions against them dropping me in the poo:shock:

Do you need to do, an advisory when the box comes up anyway for you to populate no of seats excluding the driver?

On the 16 seater, how many seats are left when the rear rows are removed? and how heavy are they plated at?? you can see the damn thing possibly fitting into 3 classes??:?

As for the 14 seater i was under the impression that you tested as presented but do a manual advisory that states there was only 12 fitted at time of test, so if he falls foul of a roadside check or post accident safety inspection at least your ass is covered!!

I have had this question now serval times :

One of my customers buy's transit minibuses with 16 seats but then removes the rear 2 rows and makes a device for carrying goods and equipment to work sites (but still has windows in). The lease company he has them off asks for a class 5 test on it (from 12 months old) even though they are aware of this conversion.

Another customer has a 14 seat transit minbus but when presented for test has 2 seats removed which technically makes it class 4 .

Do others have this issue and if so what do you test them as?
