It sounds to me like the tester is using the incorrect program, my understanding is to re-print a VT40 for measured items and then enter the new data, ie brake results into computer.
There is however the ability to just bypass the "enter brake test results" after printing the VT40 using that program, however I am not sure of the reason behind it.
Always better I think to do it correctly, save getting some points in future?

All he is doing was setting himself up for a fall, if caught, did you say anything to him?

If the re-test is on a seat belt or bit of welding on a sill etc then you just click continue bypass the brake results. Why would you need to re-check them if the failure items has nothing to do with brakes?
Any other failure that could have disrupted the brake system in any way you're required to re-check and enter results. We were also advised that even though we may not disrupt the brakes to do certain jobs the DIY mechanic may so if it's something like a cv boot where we'd just have bottom ball joint out the customer could have had caliper and disc off so would be advisable to re-check the brakes.
removalizer, it does let you continue if none of the failures is brake related. I do it this way all the time.

I thought they said at a seminar that best practice was to run thru a brake test on all retests, as you have it on the lift anyway?? Could have sworn they said that you should check the lights, check all advise items as well as fails and do a roller test? Could be wrong, it was after food and a pint and getting on for ten pm so about 2 hours after my curfew!!!!

Entering the brake test results on a partial re test is the same as the full test, it won't let you carry on unless you do it.

Hi Guys,
You don`t have to enter brake test results on a logged on partial retest, Unless any item failed do not require any part of the braking system to be removed, to access the items failed, eg:- emissions.

You could use the fast track function if no measured results are needed...
Check the flow charts given...

every time I do a partial retest it asks for a brake test, why is this when the items I failed are nothing to do with the brakes ?
