Hi,

ref publications and manuals You need the 6th Edition and the Inspection Manuals, Yes I know You have to pay.

Once You have done your AE course you will need Form VT01 downloadable from VOSA website (forms) Its 10 pages so make sure you have plenty of ink, lol.

Hi Wes, thanks for the reply.

I have just recieved the pack from VOSA.

Do you know if there is a minimum size that dictates what unit can be used for an mot station, for example a mimimum length? I have just been offered a unit and was wondering if there was a minimum size requirement?

Thanks

Hi,

Go to http://www.vosa.gov.uk and have a browse, Training and requirements for what You wish to do are all there.

Your Local Area Office details will be available.

You can phone them and ask them to send You The Application Pack. If it is an Application for a New Testing Station then I think the AE course is FOC,

If it is to become an AE of an existing Testing Station then I think It`s about £250.

Regards, Wes.

Hi guys,

I am interested in setting up a testing station.  I'm not a tech but am involved in the motor trade.  We have an in house mechanic who is retiring in January so we feel that this is propbably a good time to maybe set up a testing station and employ an NT.

We are actively seeking new premises to accomodate this change to our business. I have done some reserach but need some guidance - hope you guys cans help!

I am going to be the AE, what course do I need to do for this, has anyone experience of this course and costs etc? When can i take this course, could I do before we find the right premises etc, or is it a case of finding the premises and then doing the training?

I read somewhere that there is a slight shortage of NT's, is that still the case? And secondly, what can one expect to pay an NT? What are the set up costs of a station, i've estimated a little shy of 30k. does that sound about right? What about equipment leasing?

Any guidance or other advice on dealing with VOSA and any other pittfalls would be very much appreciated.
