While slightly irritating I know, ignore it!
To expect NTs to fail this and inform the customer, who will then remove it and replace it 5 mins later (after 're-test') is a waste of time and effort and probably cost you a lost customer..................
While rules are rules, why can't they and us use discretion in such cases?
i understand what your saying if it was just the points it would not matter , its the fact they say on the letter there coming back again for another assesment so thats another 2 hours testing lost , and no matter how you look at it a i know all tests should be perfect but the fact there is another visit iminent puts pressure on the general mot enviroment ,daft i know but its like being 16 again and having your work checked all the time . just leave me work i am a good tester find testers that do major things wrong aaaghh

If I were to fail cars for such a minor point my boss would probably give me a beating for losing him customers!
When I am presented with danglies I normally wedge them behind or above the mirror.
i normally take them off but sods law , i did not

Just so you know you're not alone, my mate got twenty points for a whipsnade zoo sticker encroaching the swept area just above the tax disc on a Chyrsler Voyager. Yup, about 5 feet from the driver

i had a visit and they took an eternity to test the car i had just finished ,
and i got stung for 20 points for a fluffy bl*$dy dice on the mirror which i was asked wether it had been tested with them being there and did not lie i said yes and was then asked why it was not failed , what can you say! , so they said you may have a letter and a week letter bang 20 points for me and 20 for the boss, nothing else found on the test at all typical , my argument is we have always been told if your not sure about an issue look at testers guide were in the guide does it say a object hanging from a mirror is a fail , as its not even attached to the screen , so at what point in the car does something hanging not become a fail in the drivers view , when you can stick an extra mirror any where you like , or a taxi sign as long as it does not excessively obstruct the drivers view , and the passengers visor can hang down and block the view too , the dice by the way measured 50mm square each , i dont agree with the dice but it should be all or nothing not one rule for one thing then another rule for something else
from a rather annoyed nt
rant over

Your VE was probably being validated/QA checked for consistency.

My AE was off and i had just been given the roll of AE delegate !!!!
I think i bluffed my way through the interview, he found that the pricw list in the viewing area out of date and that was all
THANK GOD ITS OVER

so i just finished a test and parked the car in the car park and with horror found 2 vosa people just getting out of there vehicles
they introduced themselves and asked to see the vts device
they said it should take about 3 hours
they interviewed my AE and then i got interviewed for about 20 mins and a few testing questions.
after about 2 hours they left leaving a list of 8 minor items to rectify and once rectified we had to fax the completed list to our local office
in my opinion it was painless
any body else had good visits??
