Hi Daz

I must confess that I have not read up on the Regulations regarding your type of situation, but VOSA would be bound by higher authority over them, contact a solicitor for free half hour and find out if you can be reinstated after a fixed period, say serving half the time of ban.

Just maybe some more training and another approval after a short while you may be able to get back in, give it a go nothing to loose

Yeah we work for the government and have to adhere to strict rules and apply the same standards regardless of where we work, so we should all be paid the same  standard wage by the government and have our own union, although that would probably lead to strikes every Monday morning ;)

Hey guys..You all know by now that VOSA can Take away your licence/liveleyhood for a small mistake..Seatbelt cut,Fuel cap seal etc.....But when WE find a major FAILURE ITEM we cannot stop the presenter from DRIVING the CAR AWAY...ie for bald tyres or  Brake efficiency below standard..This is not acceptable or fair.

How do we get justice.?..

By the way..If I conduct an MOT test then I am working "on behalf of the Government"! As I am producing LEGALLY REQUIRED DOCCUMENTATION...Mr Brown can you please drop the fuel tax duty so i can afford to work for you..;)

Really sorry to hear your news Daz, the recent VOSA seminar that I attended mentioned how they help VTS's to maintain their standards, yeah right.

VOSA seem to enjoy punishing people rather than helping them. I understand standards have to be met, but i've yet to hear anybody in the MOT trade, say that they have been encouraged, let alone helped by VOSA.

All other postings are hypothetical or What to look out for and pay more specific attention to throughout your inspection . I am Abhorred to read that They would partially dismantle/unscew retaining bolts!

"Unable to dismantle anything to gain access that would require further inspection" Yes that means a Wheel Trim! With possibly a single wheel nut missing or loose!

In a previous post I listed a couple of items that might have been induced, Had another one end of last week, 03 vehicle foglamp not working, further investigation found wiring plug disconnected, also recently new towbar fitted, and obviously not re-connected at time of fitting.

I Personally think, that if You carry out Your Inspections correctly, then the initial posting shouldn`t ever happen to You.

Wes.
my friend had a vosa incognito and the rear seat belt mounting bolt had been slackened and although he pulled and checked belt condition inside the car and seemed ok he didnt spot the loose mounting from inside the boot when inspected. usually a majority off seat belts are hidden under trims but this one wasnt and in his own admission should have spotted it. also headlight aims and fuel cap which he did spot.

Bit of an update..nothing exciting tho...

Recived a letter from vosa today....basically just telling me of the shortcomings made in the mystery shopper test...

Total points allocated to me in this case 80..

it may be considered that there may be grounds for taking disaplinary action against me,but b4 a desicion is taken i can make written reprasentation etc....
If the maximum level of saction indicated is cessation of approval to test ,credit points may be given for certain positive steps..

My boss received basically the same aswell ....80 points and they brought up 40 points from 5 years ago when he didnt get the taply calibrated...so he has 120 points against him....

so i await the final outcome....
