I Personally think, that if You carry out Your Inspections correctly, then the initial posting shouldn`t ever happen to You.

Daz hasn`t  listed any defects to date, In his original posting, He said "4" defects.

All other postings are hypothetical or What to look out for and pay more specific attention to throughout your inspection . I am Abhorred to read that They would partially dismantle/unscew retaining bolts!

"Unable to dismantle anything to gain access that would require further inspection" Yes that means a Wheel Trim! With possibly a single wheel nut missing or loose!

In a previous post I listed a couple of items that might have been induced, Had another one end of last week, 03 vehicle foglamp not working, further investigation found wiring plug disconnected, also recently new towbar fitted, and obviously not re-connected at time of fitting.

I Personally think, that if You carry out Your Inspections correctly, then the initial posting shouldn`t ever happen to You.

VOSA will not cut a seat belt!  The RMI man has got his wires mixed up.

The seat belt mounting point bolt is removed then replaced only half a turn.  Therefore checking security of mounting is vital, as pulling belt may well not reveal the 'defect'.

Each missed defect is scored at 20 points each, so potentially there are 100 up for 'grabs'.

Other favorites are

2 Rear seat back mechanism is tampered to no longer work

3 Fuel cap seal removed

4 Bulb in fog lamp housing removed

5 Headlight misaligned

50 pts and above can mean a 2 yr ban, but if it's your first problem with VOSA, 80 to 100 pts can still result in a 5 yr warning (AE will get warning also at same score).  Write apologetic letter and assure them that you have learnt a valuable lesson and you should be OK.

I heard from an RMI man yesterday..

Seat belts - fully extend  the belt and check for cuts

Check rear seat backs secure in the upright postition.

Check fuel cap

Check the lights especially aim

Just looking at another post on site and a guy got banned for 2 years for a having 63 points.....

Seems like i gonna get stuffed big time from that then...

Daz..

Presuming you dont have any other warnings, the likely outcome is a 5 year formal warning. Dont know about the other case you refer to, but it's most likely he had pevious outstanding written warnings.

Check the 6th Edition Guide, there's a flowchart in the 'Discipline' section - Appendix 8, which shows the procedures normally followed in such cases.

Listing faults, all of them however minor they might seem to you, should help us all.

You have to be vigilent at all times, We do some trade tests for a local dealership, and I find it strange that a lot of them require adjustment to the offside headlamp aim, wires cut on a side repeater on an 04? the only fault on that one. Obviously it would have been a PRS for a bulb, so on removal, I discovered the cut wires.

ps;- Chepstow is not too far from Bristol. don`t forget that Merc.

Someone will be online soon who may be able to tell you what may happen, meanwhile what area are you in, and what were the faults, and make model of car so others will know it's a VOSA car.

That will be 30 points per item missed I'm afraid Daz.

Was a 05 plate skoda octavia 1.9tdi..bluey/green colour...And in the south wales or more so lantrissant catchment area.....So Swansea/cardiff/newport/chepstow areas....

Not sure if listing the faults would be any good as he did say that change them at random...not safty related items tho as they cudnt drive them etc...

But was lighting, seatbelt and fuel cap related....ohh and seat....

But he did say that he has to test the car b4 he leaves base and log it as a fail ,,,and that boss man will be watching the logging on and off of the vehicle when at the test stations....

Was goin to write Vosa in big letters underneath if i had got the chance afterwards lol....

Was one of those s**tty days aswell today and was half tempted to hand him my smartcard and jack.....
