Thanks Kev. Yeh i have passed all the sections and got an overall mark of 70%.
This is how it goes:-
Brakes 70% Wheels & Tyres 60%
Steering 60% Electrical 100%
Suspension 80% Body 60%
Emissiions 70% General 60%
Overall 70%
Maybe they have moved the goal posts because it says that you have to get an overall of 75% on the letter. But how can you get an overall of 75% with the figures they use. I have met the criteria in all sections and failed on overall. Looks like they need to word the whole thing a little better.

you need a score of 70% overall with not less than 60 % in any section , so you could have over 70% overall score & still fail due to having less than 60% in 1 section.

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this site and was just looking for some help regards the entrance exam to become a tester. I have just sat the exam and to my disappointment failed.
When i arrived at the test site in Wrexham there were about 7 or 8 other candidates there for the exam and we were all told that it would be an 8 section test with 10 or 5 questions to each section. We were then told that we had to get at least 60% in each section correct. So this equates to 6 out of 10 in the 10 question sections and 3 out of 5 in the 5 question sections. Yes?
I got my results back the next day, to my dismay i was informed that i had failed. Looking at the results i had got 60% or more on every section, even a 100% on electrical which is probably my weakest point.
My question is why? Why have i failed when i have produced the results asked for? I have been in the motor trade for 17 years now, surely this experience should count for something. Its not as though i am fresh out of college with little or no experience at all. No disrespect to students we all start somewhere. I myself was a student before i started out.
Now i have to wait 4 months to sit the exam again, how frustrating.
All views welcome on this matter.
Thanks for your time.
