We had a customer with a newish mini who decided to drive on the runflat until the wheel cracked. Is it a coincidence that the cars with runflats on are the ones whos drivers would probably run the damn things flat even if they weren't fitted? The tyre pressure monitoring system is usually the first part of the system to go faulty anyway, my laguna had a penchant for "losing" wheels in hot weather or when driving down the motorway.

big..E. wrote: Tyre Pressure Monitoring System,it lets you know when a "runflat tyre" loses pressure..looking at the photo I presume the tyre was flat...in which case then a warning should flash on the dashboard to let the driver know.Did the vehicle have a TPMS ?? If not then a runflat tyre should not have been fitted, these tyres should only be fitted where a system supports it otherwise the consequences can be fatal Re:your photo...
Gotcha re: TPMS, no not fitted hence, as you say complete horror story.
Yes you could say it was flat as you could nearly get you whole hand inside the tyre.

Guy bought this car two weeks previously when he brought it to us for a service with the complaint that there was vibration at 60 + mph.
The tyre was of the 'run flat' variety.
