VOSA Information

VOSA-logoVehicle Operator & Services agency (VOSA) information

A guide to the government agency – now renamed DVSA – which supervises the MOT scheme

DVSA supervises the MOT scheme by:

  • Authorising MOT Testing Stations and approving MOT Testers
  • Setting standards for MOT Testing and for authorising of the MOT Testing Station and MOT Testers
  • Training Authorised Examiners and MOT Testers
  • Ensuring that MOT Testing Stations maintain the required standards by visiting premises and carrying out checks
  • Taking disciplinary action or giving guidance and advice where standards are not being maintained
  • Dealing with appeals and complaints from the public about MOT Test quality
  • If you are unhappy with the service you have received

Let DVSA know as it helps them make sure that MOT Testing Stations are providing a good service.

In the first instance contact the Area Manager at your local DVSA office, the address for which is shown on the Fees and Appeals poster at your MOT testing Station. Or ring the MOT enquiry line on *0300 123 9000.
