CardsSafe – keeping your security cards safe

Helping Car Dealerships and Vehicle Testing Stations to store cards securely.

The CardsSafe system is specifically designed to securely retain customer credit, debit and ID cards while they test drive a vehicle, or to protect MOT Security Cards for Nominated Testers (NT) and Authorised Examiners (AE).

Complying with the DVSA’s strict guidelines for security, the CardsSafe system is helping MOT Test Centres to stay and safe and avoid penalty points by protecting NT and AE MOT Security cards.

DVSA Regulations

It is obligatory for all Nominated Testers and Authorised Examiners to keep their individual MOT Security card secure. There are well over 50,000 Nominated Testers and Authorised Examiners in the UK, and they are all responsible for the safe keeping of their own MOT Security Card.

A new way to keep MOT Security cards secure

DVSA can inspect any Vehicle Testing Station (VTS) at any time to ensure that MOT Security Cards are kept in a secure manner. These cards need to be stored in an easily accessible but secure location to prevent theft, loss, damage, identity fraud, malpractice and unauthorised access to the MOT Computer.

DVSA is understandably focused on keeping access to the MOT computer secure at all times. During announced or unannounced visits by DVSA, if the cards are found in insecure places such as toolboxes, unlocked desk drawers or left lying on a desk, disciplinary points can be given against both the NT and in some circumstances against the Authorised Examiner as well.

CardsSafe is the solution!

The CardsSafe system is specifically designed to retain any cards securely, preventing theft, damage and misuse. CardsSafe can help Vehicle Testing Stations to comply with DVSA’s card security regulations.

With CardsSafe, MOT security cards can be kept securely and conveniently on the business premises at all times.

An important benefit of CardSafe is that it avoids wasted time if Testers are currently taking their cards home and then forget to bring their card to work with them, which then necessitates the time-consuming process of contacting DVSA for a special password to be sent before the Tester can begin work – if the card is already securely stored at the Testing Station, that problem never arises.

According to Leon O’Hara, Dealer Principal from Yeomans Peugeot, “CardsSafe is the best solution we’ve seen in protecting our MOT Testers’ MOT Security Cards. Not only does it help us comply with DVSA’s guidelines but it also ensures security of all valuable and secure cards. It’s exactly what we’ve been looking for!”

CardsSafe is affordable, easy to install and easy to use. The unit comes with ten boxes, each of which has a unique key so every NT has their own personal key.  If any key is lost or damaged it will be replaced free of charge within 48 hours and meanwhile the station manager will be able to open the box with a master key.

With CardsSafe each MOT security card is protected and stored with a minimum risk of damage, loss or misuse.

Remember too…

Whilst secure storage of cards is important, of even greater concern is the security of passwords. Authorised Examiners should not only ensure that the Tester’s cards (and their own) are safely and securely stored, but that Testers’ passwords are totally secure as well.
